How to keep a consistent brand look when you create with AI
AI can produce anything, which is exactly why a brand can easily fall apart. A practical guide to keeping the same colors, fonts, lighting and character across all your content.
With AI tools, you can create more images and videos in an hour than you used to in a month. But there's a catch: without clear rules, every image looks different. One is colorful and cheerful, another dark and serious, a third looks like it's from another world. People won't remember your brand. A consistent style is what turns content into a brand.
Why it matters
When people scroll social media, they have a split second to recognize a brand. If your posts always look similar (same colors, fonts, mood), they recognize you before they read your name. That builds trust and memorability.
Step 1: Write a "style card"
It's one page with your brand's rules. It includes:
- Colors: 1–2 main and 2–3 accent colors. (For us: black and gold.)
- Fonts: one bold font for headlines, one readable font for text.
- Light and mood: for example "dark background, warm cinematic light".
- Never: for example "no pastel colors, no cartoon characters".
Step 2: Keep a reusable prompt for AI
When creating images with AI, you write a description (prompt). Create a base style description you add to every prompt. For example:
"Cinematic photograph, dark background, warm golden side light, subtle film grain, high contrast, black and gold palette."
Then you only change what's happening in the image. The style stays the same.
Step 3: One character, always the same
If your brand has a face (you or an AI avatar), it must look the same every time. What helps:
- working with the same reference photos,
- describing the same features (hairstyle, glasses, clothing),
- using tools that can "remember" a character.
Pragmadad always wears sunglasses, a beard and a black hoodie. That's why you recognize him in every scene.
Step 4: Templates for text on images
Add captions and text on images using a template: the same font, size, colors and position. You set up the template once in a design tool and then just reuse it.
Step 5: Check before posting
Before posting, ask yourself three questions:
- Would I recognize it as ours even without the logo?
- Do the colors and lighting match the style card?
- Does the character look the same as in other posts?
If not, fix it. One "off-style" post spoils the overall impression.
Tip: look at your profile as a whole
Open your Instagram profile and look at the post grid from a distance. Does it look like one brand? Or like a mosaic of random images? That's the fastest consistency test.
Summary
AI gives you unlimited content. A consistent style turns it into a brand. Write a style card, use the same AI prompt, stick to one character and work with templates. If you'd like us to create your visual style for you, see our AI personal brand service.
