Automated campaign reporting with Claude

How to save hours a week on ad reporting. A simple process for turning Google and Meta exports into a clear report with AI.

Evaluating ads is important but tedious. Download data from Google, from Facebook, from your store, combine it, calculate and write up what it means. With an AI assistant like Claude, it takes a fraction of the time. Here's a simple process, even for people who aren't analysts.

Step 1: Decide what you want to know

A good report doesn't answer everything. It answers 3–5 key questions:

  • How much did we spend and how much did we sell?
  • What did one customer cost us?
  • Which campaigns and ads performed best and worst?
  • What changed compared with last week or month?
  • What do we recommend doing next?

Step 2: Download the data

Export a spreadsheet from each ad platform for the period you're reviewing. Most platforms have a "Download" or "Export" button. Add the number of orders and revenue from your store.

Step 3: Give Claude a clear brief

Upload the spreadsheets to Claude and write something like:

"You're a marketing analyst. Attached are Google and Meta ad exports for September and our store revenue. Prepare a short report for a business owner who isn't a marketer: how much we spent, how much we sold, what one customer cost, the 3 best and 3 worst campaigns, a comparison with August and 3 recommendations. Write simply, without jargon."

Step 4: Check the numbers

This matters. AI can make mistakes with numbers, for example by summing a column incorrectly or mixing up periods. So:

  • check total spend and revenue against the platforms,
  • make sure you're comparing the same periods,
  • for unusual conclusions, ask "How did you arrive at that?"

Step 5: Automate it

Once the process works, save it:

  • create a project in Claude with your reporting rules so you don't have to rewrite the brief,
  • if you want to go further, data can be pulled automatically and reports generated on a schedule, for example through connectors or a simple automation set up by a technician.

What a good report looks like

  • Short: one page, not ten.
  • Clear: even for someone who isn't a marketer.
  • With recommendations: not just numbers, but what to do with them.
  • Compared over time: better or worse than last time?

What reports don't do

A report tells you what happened. The decision is still yours. AI might suggest moving budget from one campaign to another, but you know that a product is out of stock or that peak season is coming. Combine AI analysis with knowledge of your own business.

Summary

With Claude, you can turn ad exports and revenue data into a clear report in minutes. What matters is a clear brief, checking the numbers and making your own decisions. For our clients, regular reporting is part of our PPC campaign management.
